# Champaign County Forest Preserve District

> With seven preserves totaling almost 4,000 acres of forest, prairie, lakes, rivers, and wetlands, the Champaign County Forest Preserve District (CCFPD) is a great place to get closer to nature.

- [River Bend](https://www.champaignforests.org/champaign-county/lake-trails/river-bend-forest-preserve): A beautiful 391-acre site contains approximately 130-acres of clear water in two lakes, one of which is the county's largest lake
- [Sangamon River](https://www.champaignforests.org/forest-preserve/sangamon-river-champaign-county): Sangamon River Forest Preserve, a 160-acre gem, offers a variety of natural features
- [Heron View](https://www.champaignforests.org/forest-preserves/illinois/heron-view): Heron View Forest Preserve, a 103-acre mix of floodplain and oak-hickory forests, features a serene hike with views
- [Homer Lake](https://www.champaignforests.org/forest-preserves/illinois/homer-lake): Wildlife and natural beauty abound in the 764 acres at Homer Lake Forest Preserve near Homer, Illinois
- [Middle Fork River](https://www.champaignforests.org/forest-preserve/champaign-county/middle-fork-river): Middle Fork River Forest Preserve contains 1,712 acres composed of old hardwood timber, reforested lowlands, grassy meadows, and in-progress prairie restorations
